Chomping at the bit is an understatement. I am so ready for this race to be here, to be run, to be conquered, to be put to rest. I have trained fervently for the past 4.5 months and I am ready to go. My emotions these last 2 weeks have paralleled the hills I've been running; up and down, easy and hard. I've been nervous and scared and, at times, hoping the Wasatch Back would supernaturally disappear from the map. Then, the next minute, I'm downloading new Kanye West and Black Eyed Peas songs to my iPod while itching to go out and run with the new heavy beats in my ears. I've received Priesthood blessings to help calm my nerves. I've received confirmation that I can do this and that I have prepared and need not fear. I have team members, in the form of good friends, who have rallied around each other and have calmed anxious anticipation.

Enough already! Let's Run!!!
Friday and Saturday I will run my first race EVER.
And why not shoot for a BIG RACE my maiden voyage out of the gates?
Ragnar Relay: Wasatch Back 2009!!!!!!!!!
I will succeed.
I may hurt and want to die because of exhaustion (running 3 legs plus 30+ hours of little to no sleep).
But I will finish.
And that's all the success I need.
We have a few team members who will be dressing up in different themes throughout the race. Yours truly may even have a leg dedicated to my adoration of Spanish rap and it's abilities to keep my legs moving. Remember Daddy Yankee and this? We'll see how daring I am and if my nerves don't get the best of me.
So, Friday around 3:15 p.m., Midnight, and Saturday around 10:15 a.m. - please cross your fingers, say a prayer, make a wish on a star for me. I will need your positive vibes and well wishes.
I am confident I will not come back the same person.
I will be a changed person.
A better person.
Thanks to Ragnar and the Wasatch Back.

it's on! can you believe it, it's really here! can't wait!
I pure tingles right now for you!! I can't wait for the after report. I love the T-shirt and hope that someone films you and your Spanish rappin'. Awesome.
GO, KRISTEN!!!
I have been thinking a ton about you this week. Good luck and I know you can do it. There is nothing liek the feeling of accomplishment. Good luck and I will be cheering for you.
I didn't know this was your FIRST race EVER! WOW!!! Your adreneline will help you so much, too! (Ya know, how you hear about people in car accidents being able to MOVE heavy things to get out of danger or save people?! That's the adreneline I'm talking about!) I think it sounds exciting to be a part of something so big!
Do you have a "Mantra?" Some of mine were,
"I can do hard things!"
"Every step is bringing me closer to the finish!"
"The pride lasts longer than the pain!"
"I trained hard - I can do this!"
"My reward is coming!"
REPEAT AS NEEDED.
I am laughing that you secretly wish it would disappear, though, too! ;D
Good Luck!!!! :)
You're awesome!
You will do great! I'm so impressed that you are even trying it.
I'll be thinking of you. I am so proud of you for training so hard and rising to a new challenge. You will do great. I look forward to hearing all about it. Enjoy!
You will do AWESOME!! Just remember...you have trained and are ready for this! Don't do anything different or try anything new. Just stick to your same ole' stuff and routine, and you will do wonderfully! Can't wait to see pics. and hear all about it! And if you're up to it, Greg and I will be doing the San Antonio Rock n' Roll Marathon in November!
